From Neive to Alba you only need to calculate another 15-20min by car.

Apart from a rich history, Alba is famous for the white truffles fair and world renowed wines such Barolo, Barbera and Barbaresco.

After the short drive you can park at the Parcheggio Piazza San Paolo or one of these.  They are all just a short walk from the historical center.

A lot of the streets you will walk through are only for pedestrians so it’s a perfect place to visit with small children in the morning as well.

The weekly market in Alba is on Saturday morning and get’s quite busy. The market covers various streets via Vittorio Emanuele II or via Maestravia Cavour, Piazza del Duomo or Piazza RisorgimentoPiazza Elvio Pertinace, in Piazza Prunotto and Piazza Marconi. There you will also find the particular urban sheds which were originally built for the sale of farm animals.

Stop 3: BAROLO

From Alba to Barolo you need to drive another 15-20 min. Barolo is famous for its exceptional red wine made from the Nebbiolo grape. It is also very well known for the scenic vineyards and rich culinary traditions, including truffles and fine dining.  You have several options to park; click here to open the map.

From parcheggio Piazzale della Fiera, located near the town center, you can walk towards the iconic Castello Falletti, a medieval castle that now houses the Barolo Wine Museum. Check their website for more info and tickets to visit the WiMu. There is also a special tour for families as well!

Stop 4: CANELLI

From Barolo to Canelli you need to drive about 30 min. Back home to Villa Perla through the vineyards is about 20-25 min and you can also take the main roads in about the same time.

Canelli is famous for its historic underground wine cellars, known as “Cathedrals of Wine”, where the famous sparkling wine, Asti Spumante, is produced.

It is also celebrated for its winemaking heritage and the vineyards that are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. There are a lot of festivals, theater shows, car rally’s and cultural events through the entire year.

You can park in several parking places; click here for a map  or just down the streets where you can pay via the pink app or the meters. If you park your car at the Parcheggio Piazza Cavour, you can begin your walk in Canelli’s historic center.

Start walking by heading to Via Giovanni Battista Giuliani, where you can visit the impressive Underground Cathedrals, vast and intricate wine cellars carved into the tuff rock (UNESCO).

The cellars of Bosca, Coppo and Contratto offer fascinating tours about the real art of winemaking. After the cellar visit, stroll along Via Roma, the town’s main street, lined with charming shops and cafes. Continue to the Church of San Tommaso, a beautiful Baroque structure, before ending your walk with a view of the scenic vineyards that surround Canelli.

There are many restaurants you can book in advance as well; there are some pricey ones that may not be worth it for everyone but also more reasonable places to find on trip advisor. We recommend Ristorante Civico15 or Osteria dei Meravigliati where you can have both lunch and dinner.

The local market here in Canelli is on Tuesday and Friday morning.
